Features
‘Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore’ is one of the most complete expressions of the Verdicchio grape variety: elegant, long-lived, capable of ageing for over 5-7 years.
It is one of the most internationally recognised and award-winning Italian white wines, appreciated for its versatility and strong connection to the territory.
Sensory Notes
‘Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi D.O.C. Classico Superiore’ is made from Verdicchio grapes grown in the “classic” area, which includes Morro d’Alba.
The Superiore version requires a higher minimum alcohol content than the D.O.C. Classico, obtained from selected vineyards with lower yields and greater concentration.
Pale straw yellow in colour, with greenish reflections in younger vintages, clear and brilliant, it has floral notes of acacia and chamomile, followed by fruity hints of white peach, green apple and citrus fruits. Mineral nuances and light notes of almond often emerge, typical of the calcareous soils of the area.
On the palate, it is dry and fresh, with a balanced structure and good acidity that supports its drinkability. It finishes with a slightly bitter aftertaste, a distinctive characteristic of Verdicchio.
